The impact of African players continues in the Premier League, as three African players found the net for their clubs in Matchweek 30 of the competition.

Omar Marmoush scores again as Manchester City triumph over Leicester

Manchester City secured a 2-0 victory over Leicester City in Matchweek 30 of the Premier League, with Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush once again finding the net.

Jack Grealish opened the scoring for City in the 2nd minute before Marmoush doubled the lead in the 29th minute. The Egyptian forward capitalized on a rebound from Leicester’s goalkeeper and slotted the ball into an empty net.

This marks Marmoush’s third consecutive game with a goal for Manchester City. He previously scored against Bournemouth in the FA Cup and against Brighton in the league.

Since joining City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January, Marmoush has netted six goals across all competitions, including five in the Premier League.

Manchester City now sit fourth in the Premier League table with 51 points, trailing third-placed Nottingham Forest by six points.

Bryan Mbeumo shines again despite Brentford defeat

Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo was on the scoresheet for Brentford in their 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United in the same matchweek.

Mbeumo equalized for Brentford in the 66th minute with a penalty. However, Newcastle secured the win through goals from Alexander Isak in stoppage time of the first half and Sandro Tonali in the 74th minute.

Mbeumo has now contributed to goals in back-to-back league matches, having provided an assist in Brentford’s previous game against Bournemouth.

The Cameroonian international has been providing good performancs, scoring 16 goals in 30 Premier League appearances this season. His tally places him fifth in the league’s top scorer rankings.

On the international stage, Mbeumo recently shone with Cameroon, scoring and assisting in their 3-1 victory over Libya in the sixth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This was the recent game for Mbuemo before Newcastle encounter.

Brentford currently hold 11th place in the Premier League standings with 41 points, just three points behind Bournemouth in 10th.

Paul Onuachu scores in Southampton’s draw against Crystal Palace

Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu was on target for Southampton in their 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.

Onuachu opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a header following a well-executed cross from Matheus Fernandes. However, Crystal Palace salvaged a point through Matheus França’s stoppage-time equalizer in the second half.

This goal marks Onuachu’s second consecutive game on the scoresheet, following his strike in Southampton’s 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton in the previous round. The Nigerian forward now has four Premier League goals in 20 appearances this season.

Despite his efforts, Southampton remain at the bottom of the table in 20th place with just 10 points, 19 points behind 17th-placed Wolverhampton—the first team outside the relegation zone.
