Pyramids FC manager Krunoslav Jurčić emphasized the importance of the upcoming match against Mali's Djoliba in the CAF Champions League in pre-match comments before Saturday's Group D clash.

The Croatian tactician confirmed that although the team has already achieved its initial goal of qualifying for the quarterfinals, the match remains significant and winning is essential to continue their campaign with the same strength.

Pyramids will host Djoliba on Saturday at 7 PM GMT at the Air Defense Stadium in the final group stage match of the CAF Champions League. During the press conference, Jurčić stated that despite securing qualification, victory remains vital for Pyramids as there remains the possibility of finishing as winners of Group D. Pyramids need to have a better result than current group leaders Espérance because the Tunisian club has a superior head-to-head record in their meetings with Pyramids.

This is what the team will be playing for, making the win highly significant. Merely qualifying is not enough. Jurčić expressed his pride in the team, highlighting that it is remarkable for a relatively new club like Pyramids to be among the top eight clubs in Africa.

The coach also acknowledged that Djoliba, despite being eliminated, remains a strong team with a squad of young players who deserve respect. Pyramids will approach the match with great respect, aiming for nothing less than victory and striving for top spot in the group.

Jurčić confirmed that the team is fully prepared and that the appropriate lineup will be selected based on the available players and current absences. He also noted that Pyramids faces strong matches in the Egyptian Premier League later this month, so managing matters in the best possible way is crucial.

Group D Standings:

1- Espérance de Tunis (Tunisia) – 10 points.

2- Pyramids FC (Egypt) – 10 points.

3- Sagrada Esperança (Angola) – 5 points.

4- Djoliba AC (Mali) – 2 points.
