The Pyramids Football Club team delegation was forced to return to Luanda Airport in the Angolan capital after their private plane departed for two hours on its way back to Cairo. The Egyptian club was traveling home following their match against Sagrada in the CAF Champions League.

After approximately two hours into Pyramids’ return journey to Cairo which was initially scheduled to last more than 10 hours, the plane encountered severe turbulence and cabin pressure dropped causing some members of the delegation to faint.

The plane was forced to turn back to Luanda due to weather fluctuations, intense pressure, and turbulence. Upon landing the plane’s condition was evaluated and treatment was provided to injured members of the delegation.

The Angolan authorities allowed the delegation to re-enter the country without a new visa as the delegation stayed overnight in Luanda following their emergency return to the country.

All attempts to depart the delegation from Angola failed due to the need for the plane to undergo inspections and the necessity of waiting for weather conditions to stabilize before the delegation could be permitted to leave Angola. As a result, the delegation was forced to return again to the accommodation hotel in Luanda to stay overnight until a new departure time to Cairo is determined.
