According to Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office has moved to stop investigations Secretary General, Veron Mosengo-Omba as they found no facts or legal basis to initiate legal proceedings.
A statement from CAF read in part: “The Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office has decided that it will stop investigations against CAF Secretary General, Veron Mosengo-Omba as they found no facts or legal basis to initiate legal proceedings.
“In November 2024, Veron Mosengo-Omba voluntarily travelled to Fribourg Switzerland to answer questions relating to the preliminary investigations.
“CAF welcomes the decision of the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office and is pleased that there continues to be adherence and compliance within CAF and the CAF Secretariat with the culture and commitment to ethics, transparency and governance that was introduced since the Presidency of Dr Patrice Motsepe.”
Mosengo-Omba was accused of making a series of suspicious payments to Swiss bank accounts. He, however, denied the claims, which had been revealed by a public disclosure from the Federal Criminal Court (FCC) of Switzerland.
Mosengo-Omba was appointed general secretary of CAF in 2021.
