Pan-Africa Football has learned from a source close to Alex Arce, the forward from Ecuadorian side LDU Quito, that Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca have expressed interest in acquiring his services.
However, early negotiations seem to have hit a snag due to differing stances on the nature of the potential transfer. The 29-year-old hitman, capped nine times for the Paraguay national team, led all scorers in Ecuador's top division Serie A with 28 goals in 32 appearances as LDU won the 2024 title.
According to the source who talked privately to Pan-Africa Football, Wydad Casablanca reached out to inquire about the conditions necessary to negotiate for Alex Arce.
Despite Wydad's clear interest, we understand that their proposal was for a loan deal and it has been met with resistance from the Ecuadorian club. LDU Quito has made it clear that they are not willing to consider a temporary move for their player. The club’s stance suggests that only a permanent transfer could bring them to the negotiating table.
This development adds another layer of complexity to Wydad Casablanca's pursuit of Arce, as they may now need to reconsider their approach if they are determined to land the forward.
