Ghana national team striker Jerry Afriyie has signed a mouthwatering deal with Saudi Arabia Pro League club Al-Qadsiah FC.

The 18-year-old forward, who has seen a meteoric rise in his burgeoning career, has signed a three-and a half-year deal with the Saudi club based in the country's Eastern Province. Afriyie will be sent on loan to third tier Spanish club CD Lugo for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Afriyie’s impressive performances for the Ghana U-20 national team at the 2023 WAFU Zone-B Tournament in Togo earned him a debut call up into the Black Stars during a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger. Afriyie scored on his senior national team debut against Niger in a 1-2 defeat for Ghana.

He won the Golden Boot award at the WAFU-Zone B regional competition where Ghana finished second to Nigeria to qualify for the U-20 AFCON in Ivory Coast in April. Afriyie was a key member of the U-20 squad that won the 2024 African Games hosted by Ghana, emerging as the tournament’s top scorer.

He was also a member of the Black Galaxies team that fell to Nigeria in the final qualifying round for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament later this year for national teams composed exclusively of domestic-based players.

The young goal poacher, who plays for second division club Thoughts FC had attracted interest from top division Ghanaian clubs but has opted to seek greener pastures abroad in Saudi Arabia.
