After their incredible 2-1 Betway Premiership win against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro is not satisfied yet.
The 49-year-old Spanish tactician is yawning for the two South African giants to face off again before the current season concludes. A fixture between the two sides cannot be ruled out because of the following reasons;
Currently both teams are in the quarter-finals of the Caf Champions League and still in the race to win the domestic Nedbank Cup. Pirates qualified for the quarters and will face Marumo Gallants.
Meanwhile, Sundowns must beat Sekhukhune United in the round of 32 to face Kaizer Chiefs. Despite Sundowns dominating matches against Pirates in recent years, Riveiro is seeking for another fixture between the two sides insisting it will be good news for South African football.
“Hopefully this is not the last time that we meet this season, we still have the opportunity to meet again in two competitions and if that happens, it's going to be really good news for SA football,” said Riveiro as quoted by SowetanLive.
“Sundowns is not a joke ... they're setting the bar high every season and this season is no different. The amount of points they have at this stage of the season is something probably unique and every time we have an opportunity to play against teams such as Sundowns in our league, it's an opportunity to get better because it's a challenge, it's difficult to control the game against them as we do in other games.”
The win against Sundowns, helped second-placed Pirates to cut the gap between them and the Brazilians to 15 points while they still have four games in hand.
