Ugandan winger Rogers Mato Kassim has committed his future to North Macedonian top-flight side Brera Strumica, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Mato joined Brera Strumica midway through the 2023/24 season in February on a one-and-a-half-year deal. Since then, the dynamic winger has become an integral part of the team, earning a contract extension with a significant salary improvement.
His joined Brera Strumica from Turkey’s second division with Şanlıurfaspor. Mato’s move to North Macedonia came less than a year after leaving Şanlıurfaspor, marking a turning point in his career.
Since joining Brera Strumica, Mato has featured in 32 matches across all competitions, registering four goals and six assists. This season alone, the winger has contributed two goals and four assists in 16 appearances, solidifying his reputation as a key playmaker for the club. In the team’s most recent league match, Mato scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory over KD Besa.
International achievements
Mato has also been a consistent performer for the Uganda Cranes since making his debut in 2022. He has earned 21 competitive caps, scoring five goals and providing two assists for the national team.
The winger played a pivotal role in Uganda’s recent successful qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, further cementing his status as a dependable asset on the international stage.
A bright future ahead
Brera Strumica’s decision to extend Mato’s contract highlights his growing influence both domestically and internationally. The Ugandan star expressed gratitude to the club for their faith in him, promising to continue working hard to achieve team and personal goals.
