The agent for Rulani Mokwena has disclosed that the South African coach will leave Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club at the end of the 2024-25 Botola Pro season.

Steve Kapelusnik told Moroccan outlet Radio Mars that the former Mamelodi Sundowns handler will continue until the end of the season before leaving.

“The future is clear now. There are five matches left and Rulani will stay until the end of the season. I met with Hicham Ait Mena, the club president, in the presence of Mokwena, and it was decided that the coach would stay until the end of the season,” Kapilushnik told the radio.

The agent also dismissed South Africa media reports suggesting that Mokwena and his backroom team have gone eight months without being paid.

"The coach has received all his dues up until February, and it is not true that he has not received his salary for eight months," the agenda added.

"I clearly informed the club president that if you do not want Mokwena to continue, tell us and we will leave. It was agreed that he would leave at the end of the season in a professional and respectful manner."

Mokwena’s future with Wydad Athletic Club was thrown into serious doubt after a 1-0 loss to Mogreb Tetouan in the Moroccan Throne Cup round of 16 over the weekend.

Wydad are in third place of the Botola Pro 1 log table, 17 points behind champions-designate RSB Berkane, and at risk of missing out on the CAF Champions League for the second consecutive season.
