The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) announced their choice of personnel to lead the men's and women's senior national teams on Sunday. Adel Amrouche was appointed as head coach of the men while Cassa Mbungo was announced as the choice to lead the women's team.

Algerian tactician Amrouche arrives at his new job after a contentious end to his time with the Tanzania national team. Amrouche was dismissed from his previous job during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after making public comments about Morocco's influence on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding venue and referee assignments.
The 56-year-old was suspended then dismissed by the Tanzania Football Federation, subsequently being handed an eight-match suspension and a $10,000 fine by CAF that was reduced upon Amrouche's appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The former USM Alger player has plenty of experience in African and East African football with previous spells in charge of the national teams of Burundi, Kenya and Botswana as well as Tanzania and Libya.
The 57-year-old Mbungo also has plenty of experience with numerous spells in East African men's club football, coaching the likes of Kiyovu SC, AS Kigali and Rayon Sports in Rwanda as well as AFC Leopards and Bandari FC in Kenya. The Rwandan coach also spent time as an assistant with the men's national team of Rwanda who are popularly known as Amavubi (The Wasps).
Mbungo will be charged with a rebuilding project for the Rwanda women, who put up a good effort this last week in 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying but fell by a 3-2 aggregate score to Egypt.
