Rwandan striker Arthur Gitego has confirmed his intentions to ditch Kenyan Premier League outfit AFC Leopards.
The 22-year-old has revealed he has written to the club seeking to terminate his contract which has one year remaining. "I asked them [to release me] but they refused,” Gitego said as quoted by Times Sport.
Gitego further confirmed he has received many offers to leave the Den hence the decision to write a formal letter requesting to be released.
“I had many offers but they didn't understand. They continue to play littler tricks. I think I have been left with no choice but to stay,” explained the forward. I have written to them a letter asking for a separation but they have not responded, which means I have to sit down and finish my contract with the club.”
He joined AFC Leopards in February 2024 and went on to enjoy a bright start to the club where he won the top scorer award in the 2024 FKF Mozzart Cup after finding the back of the net five times.
