Rwanda Premier League powerhouse APR FC are in discussions to secure the services of Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago, sources have revealed to Pan-Africa Football.
Lukwago, who is currently on the books of Venda Football Club in South Africa's National First Division, joined the club in August 2024 on a two-year deal. However, APR FC are keen to lure the experienced shot-stopper as they look to bolster their squad with quality and experience ahead of upcoming domestic and continental campaigns.
Lukwago brings a wealth of experience, having previously featured in Ethiopia with Hawasa City and St George FC before moving to South Africa. In Uganda, Lukwago turned out for top-flight sides KCCA FC, SC Victoria University, Lweza FC and Proline FC, clubs where he cemented his reputation as one of the country’s most dependable goalkeepers.
Should the move materialize, Lukwago will join a growing Ugandan contingent at APR FC that includes forward Denis Omedi, playmaker Hakim Kiwanuka and midfield enforcer Taddeo Lwanga.
Meanwhile, SC Villa captain Ronald Ssekiganda is also reportedly on the Rwandan club’s radar as they continue to scout talent from Uganda.
