Egypt national team icon Mohamed Salah was confirmed as a nominee for the 2024 Best Male Player hosted by Globe Soccer Dubai. Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has also been nominated for the Best Middle East Player.
The Liverpool forward is up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior. Globe Soccer selects their best player through fan voting. Salah has been in formidable form this season, bagging 17 goals for club and country so far in the 2024/25 season.
The Egypt captain also scored 18 English Premier League goals as he guided the Reds back to the Champions League for the 2024-25 season and won the EFL Cup (League Cup) in early 2024. Salah so far has got 17% of the votes as he trails Ronaldo, who has 19.7% of the fans votes so far.
Al Ahli and Les Fennecs winger Mahrez is among the nominees of the 2024 Best Middle East Player. The tricky left footer scored 11 league goals in his first season at Ahli in the Saudi Pro League. This season he has 4 league goals and is flying high in the AFC Champions League.
Mahrez faces fierce competition from Ronaldo, Salem Al-Dawasari, Moroccan striker Soufiane Rahimi and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Ronaldo so far has got 67% of the votes as he leads the poll.
CAF Champions League holders Al Ahly are nominated in both Best Men Club of the Year and Best Middle East Club of the Year. The Cairo giants are leading the polls in both categories and are the favorites to win the award as things stand.
