Egypt forward Mohamed Salah was among the goals as Liverpool thrashed Tottenham 4-0 at Anfield to reach the Carabao Cup final.

The Reds went into the fixture trailing 1-0 from the first leg of the semi-final but they dominated Thursday’s second leg from first whistle to the last.

Cody Gakpo’s first-half goal was added to after the break by Salah’s penalty and further strikes from Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk sealing the emphatic win and a final date with Newcastle United at Wembley on March 16.

Salah, who had a great game, provided the assist for Gakpo’s opener, his outside-of-the-boot cross finding its way to the player, who in turn drilled home a controlled half-volley.

In the second half, Salah released Darwin Nunez with a neat pass but he was brought down inside the box. The Pharaoh stepped up and buried his kick into the top corner to make it 2-0.

Substitute Mac Allister slipped in Szoboszlai with another great pass, and the latter slotted past Kinsky with ease before defender Van Dijk towered above Tottenham’s defence to head in the fourth goal and secure his team’s place in the final.

In the Carabao Cup so far this season, Salah has scored two goals from four matches, and provided one assist.
