Senegalese winger Samba Diallo has distanced himself from reports linking him to a change in national team allegiance to represent Guinea. The former Senegal U-20 national team player was rumored over the weekend to be ready to play for the Syli National instead of the Teranga Lions.
The 22-year-old winger made a name for himself while playing for Senegal U20 national side with whom he won the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Egypt. The Senegalese categorically denied changing nationality on his Instagram account but some sources revealed that Diallo thought about representing Guinea few months back.
Since winning the U-20 AFCON with Senegal, the current Hapoel Jerusalem player has not been able to progress to the senior Senegal national team with Diallo stating that he needs to work hard to be included in the Teranga Lions team. The Ziguinchor native previously represented Senegal at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup as well.
His move to Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev somewhat stalled his development as he was loaned out to Hapoel for the 2024-25 season where he has scored two goals in ten appearances. His contract with Dynamo ends at the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
