Al Qadsiah, winners of the Saudi second tier last season before getting a big money boost from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, are now through to the final of the nation's King's Cup courtesy of heroics from Gabon national team star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The veteran hitman was on target in second half stoppage time as Qadsiah defeated Al Raed by a 1-0 score. Argentine midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez set up Aubameyang with a brilliant lofted pass into the Al Raed penalty area and the former Arsenal striker let the ball bounce before lacing a low finish into the goal.
Al Qadsiah will now face Al Ittihad in the final who feature big names like Karim Benzema, Fabinho, Danilo Pereira and N'Golo Kanté. Qadsiah also remain in the hunt for an AFC Champions League spot next season by virtue of their Saudi Pro League position, currently fourth place level on 51 points with Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr. Aubameyang now has 14 goals in 26 appearances this season including 3 goals in 3 King's Cup matches.
