Nigeria international, Kelechi Iheanacho could be on his way out of La Liga side, Sevilla before the January transfer window closes as confirmed by club manager, Garcia Pimienta.
Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City last summer, has struggled to command a regular shirt with the Spanish club.
The 28-year-old, once a toast of football Leicester City fans, has made just nine LaLiga appearances, mostly coming off as a substitute and is yet to score a league goal.
His best moment so far managing three goals in the Copa del Rey with his lack of playing time likely to force him out of the club. Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Friday, Pimienta confirmed that a number of clubs have shown interest in the former Manchester City forward.
“The only thing I can say about Kelechi is that after the holidays, in the first training session. He had a small problem and it is true that he has offers from other clubs. Right now it is not a serious injury,” Pimienta said.
“It is just some minor problems that he has, and he could not train on Thursday. He has not trained on Friday and he will not be able to travel for Saturday’s game.
“We do know that he has offers from other clubs, I don’t know if they are really interested, at least. I don’t know if this will end up happening or not. However it is true that he cannot travel due to some minor problems,” he added.
With the transfer window now open, Iheanacho will be seeking to move elsewhere to gather more playing time as Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup campaign kicks off in March.
