Mamelodi Sundowns principal striker Peter Shalulile says players for the South African champions are now finding their feet and adapting to new coach Miguel Cardoso’s tactics.

The Portuguese coach replaced Mangoba Mngqithi last month after Sundowns management felt the team was not progressing in the right direction. Cardoso has since presided over five consecutive domestic league wins to remain on top of the Betway Premiership log table.

Reflecting on the coaching changes, the Namibian international told Mahlatse Mphalele of YouTube channel, Prime Sports Television, that Sundowns players are still adapting to the ways of the new coach.

“It was not that much [the changes]. It is something that came a bit differently. You can see that when you start a bus, it does not run very well but eventually it takes time to peak,” he said.

The Pretoria giants seem to be more defensively compact and playing more directly, a change Shalulile, who is recapturing his scoring spark, said took time.

“Now, we have found our feet, now know how to move, now we know where and what the coach wants and that is exactly what we are giving him," the former PSL player of the Year added.

Sundowns hold a four-point cushion over second-placed Orlando Pirates whose game against Royal AM scheduled for Thursday has been postponed due to the financial woes of the Durban-based opponents.
