Simba SC’s Communication and Information Manager Ahmed Ally has revealed their mission as they travelled to face CS Sfaxien in their Caf Confederation Cup group stage fixture on Sunday.
The Wekundu wa Msimbazi have already left for Tunis, Tunisia ahead of the matchday four fixture which will be played behind closed doors after CAF imposed a two-match fan ban on CS Sfaxien due to violent incidents during their previous home games.
Speaking before departure, a confident Ally maintained their mission in Tunis is to win the fixture.
“We are heading to Tunisia with a single goal in mind; winning against CS Sfaxien. The team is prepared and focused on achieving this objective,” said Ally as quoted by The Guardian. “We will do everything to win the game, we know what a win will mean in our quest to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Ally continued: “Winning on the road and maintaining dominance at home are essential. The team that achieves this will likely advance to the next stage.”
Simba will head into the fixture sitting third in Group A after managing two wins, no draw and one defeat. They are level on six points with leaders Bravos do Maquis and second-placed CS Constantine while Sfaxien are last without a point.
While Simba are currently leading the Mainland Premier League table following their winning run stretching to 10 matches, CS Sfaxien are winless from their last three league matches. They have lost 2-1 against Metlaoui, 2-1 against Stade Tunisien and 1-0 against ES Tunis.
Simba won the first round meeting 2-1 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania.
