Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has maintained that they will play with same intensity when they take on CS Constantine in their final Group A fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday.
The Tanzanian Premier League giants have already qualified with a game to spare but they will be fighting to win the last game and top the group. Meanwhile, a draw will be enough for Constantine to finish at the top.
“We have already qualified but by qualifying doesn’t mean we doesn’t want to win the match,” Davids told Pan-Africa Football. “We will play with the same intensity, with the same vigour to try and get the three points but. You know the players have already done the job but our focus is to be on top of the group."
“Constantine is probably one of the most organized and balanced teams in the group. They have good and experienced players who have been at this stage before. They are a very tough side to break down so we will try to create chances and score goals.”
He continued: “One thing is for sure, it won’t be an easy game, but we want to win and top the group. We want to qualify as number one and that is our main focus. I know Constantine need one point to top but we don’t have any pressure, we will play the same style of football that we have always been playing.”
Simba player Awesu Awesu echoed coach Davids sentiments by saying: “We are ready for the game, we know the game will be like a final for us because we must win to top the group and we have those powers to win and top the group, we ask for our fans to pray for us.”
The game will be played behind closed doors following the ban imposed on Simba by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
