DR Congo forward Simon Banza found the back of the net very early for Trabzonspor but that was not enough to save his side from the claws of defeat at Besiktas on Saturday.
The 28-year-old fired the visitors ahead with just 17 minutes played, silencing the fans at the Tüpras Stadyumu. Banza’s only goal separated Trabzonspor from Besiktas, moving into the half time break in match day 22 of the Turkey Super Lig.
Besiktas new manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s second half pep talks gingered his charges who pulled level on the 53rd minute from the boot of Rafa Silva. The visitors looked to be holding on to a 1-1 draw before a mistake from Trabzonspor’s Arsenii Batahov handed an own goal and the eventual winner to Besiktas.
Banza, who has has been some good form for Trabzonspor, increased his goal tally to 14 from 19 matches with 3 assists this season. Trabzonspor now sit 9th on the league table with 29 points from 22 league matches and Besiktas are locked up in 5th on 38 points.
