Sudanese giants Al Hilal have sold one of their summer signings to Tanzanian outfit Singida Black Stars. The Omdurman side sold Serge Pokou to the Singida Black Stars for an undisclosed fee this week.

Pokou joined Hilal from top Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas but failed to make an impression. The ongoing civil war in Sudan forced Al Hilal to be limited with friendly games last season but now they are competing in Mauritania's top division Super D1 league.

Hilal head coach Florent Ibenge gave the 24-year-old Ivorian limited playing time before Pokou searched for the exit. Pokou made one appearance in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League when Hilal were beaten by Young Africans and scored one goal in league play.

Singida Black Stars heavily invested in the January transfer window as they push to maintain their impressive form in the league. They are fourth with 33 points.

Pokou joins compatriots Anthony Tra Bi Tra, Arthur Bada and Ande Cirille who all played with Pokou at ASEC Mimosas. The big spenders also have other African internationals including former Ghanaians Imoro Ibrahim and Jonathan Sowah, Togolese playmaker Marouf Tchakei and Niger national team all-time leading scorer Victorien Adebayor in their ranks.
