The Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 clash between Vipers SC and Mbarara City FC is set for a historic showdown under the floodlights at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The match will kick off at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 20th, marking the first-ever Uganda Cup fixture to be played under floodlights. "The Stanbic Uganda Cup is back – and we are at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende under the lights this Thursday against Mbarara City FC," Vipers confirmed via their official social media platforms.
Vipers advanced to this stage after edging past Tepa FC with a 2-1 victory in the round of 64, while Mbarara City FC secured their spot with a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Junior Eagles following a goalless draw.
The Venoms, three-time winners of the competition, will be aiming to continue their cup run against the resilient Ankole Lions. Meanwhile, the round of 32 kicks off on Wednesday, February 19th, with three fixtures: Simba FC hosting SC Villa, Rwenzori Lions facing Buhimba United Saints, and Total FC taking on Express FC.
Thursday’s fixtures will also see CATDA FC hosting defending champions Kitara FC, while Kaaro Karungi FC faces Busia Young Stars FC before the highly anticipated night clash between Vipers SC and Mbarara City FC at Kitende.
