BUL FC staged a dramatic second-half comeback to defeat Bugoigo Leopards 3-1 and book their place in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16.
At the Gaddafi Arena in Jinja, the lower-division side took a surprise lead in the 6th minute when Oscar Fred tapped in Alfred Kizza’s precise assist. Bugoigo Leopards held onto their advantage until halftime, leaving BUL FC with work to do.
The hosts came out stronger in the second half, and their relentless attacks paid off in the 69th minute when Bakali Mugunda rose highest to head home Musiima’s corner.
Eight minutes later, Karim Ndugwa gave BUL the lead with a well-placed header off an Aprem cross. Super-sub Viane Ssekajugo put the result beyond doubt in the 80th minute, rounding the advancing goalkeeper Oyirwoth before calmly finishing to make it 3-1.
Despite missing several clear chances, BUL FC completed a commanding comeback to progress. Elsewhere, last season’s finalists Police FC comfortably saw off Soltilo Bright Stars 2-0 at Kavumba Recreation Ground, with goals from new recruit Umar Kasumba and debutant Abdul Shakur Jemba sealing the win.
In Mbale, Kataka FC edged past Odramachako 1-0 at the Mbale City Stadium, while Lugazi FC booked their round of 16 spot with a 2-0 victory over Calvary FC in Yumbe, courtesy of an Abdul Kalanzi brace.
The Stanbic Uganda Cup winner represents Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.
