A blockbuster showdown between SC Villa and Vipers SC headlines the quarterfinals of the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup, as the tournament enters its final stretch with high-stakes clashes lined up across the country.
The eagerly anticipated draw, held at Kansai Plascon Head Offices in the Industrial Area, has served up a mouthwatering fixture between two of Uganda’s football heavyweights, nine-time champions SC Villa and three-time winners Vipers SC.
The rivalry is already simmering, with Villa having recently edged Vipers 1-0 in a league clash courtesy of a Charles Lwanga strike. Both sides punched their tickets to the last eight in style.
Vipers eased past Big League outfit Blacks Power, while SC Villa continued their flawless Cup run with 1-0 away victory over Lugazi FC, maintaining their 100% win record on the road in this year’s competition.
Elsewhere in the draw, reigning champions Kitara FC will have to overcome a strong BUL FC side to keep their title defence alive. Kitara reached this stage after a gritty win against Gaddafi FC, while BUL showed no mercy in their demolition of Total FC.
KCCA FC, joint record holders of the Cup, face a tricky away test against Kaaro Karungi, the surprise package of the competition who knocked out UPDF in the previous round. The final quarter-final fixture pits Police FC against Big League hopefuls Kataka, setting the stage for potential upsets and underdog heroics.
All quarterfinal ties will be played between 18 and 22 April, 2025. In case of a draw after 90 minutes, the matches will go straight to penalties.
Quarterfinal Fixtures: Vipers SC vs SC Villa, Kaaro Karungi vs KCCA FC, Kitara FC vs BUL FC, and Police FC vs Kataka FC.
