Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has refused to commit to whether Lehlogonolo Mojela will ever play again for the club this season.
The 28-year-old underwent knee surgery in December after he suffered a recurrence of a pre-existing knee injury that required surgical intervention. He has not played for his side since October with his last appearance coming against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final.
“Bradley is upbeat and says he wants to play in March, but realistically it’s a 50/50 on whether he gets onto the park again this season,” Barker said during a press conference as quoted by the club’s official website.
“If so, it would be in late April or May [that he might return] but once you get to that stage of the season, we need to consider if we risk it for the last three or four games, as opposed to waiting until next season.
“I think it will also depend on where we are in the league and how he is feeling, but it is a slim opportunity that he will play again this season.”
Prior to the injury, Mojela, who joined Stellenbosch from TS Galaxy at the start of the season, had managed six goals in his first nine appearances.
