Mamelodi Sundowns forward Iqraam Rayners believes Stellenbosch will be the favourites when the two sides face off in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) fixture at the DHL Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.
Both teams will head into the fixture having won their respective continental matches. Stellenbosch won their away Caf Confederation Cup fixture 1-0 against Lunda Sul of Angola while Masandawana defeated Raja Casablanca by a similar margin in the Champions League.
Speaking ahead of the game, Rayners, who has been having an impressive run of form in his first season at Chloorkop, admitted it would be a difficult encounter.
“I know it’s going to be a tough one against Stellenbosch, but we will keep working and pushing each other on and off the field. For us, it’s all about winning the game on Wednesday, and it is possible with the kind of support we have been receiving from the coaches and the technical team,” the 28-year-old forward said as quoted by Sundowns website.
“I think Stellenbosch will come into this game confident. They are coming from Angola with a win. So, it’s going to be a good opportunity for both teams to get the three points, but most importantly for us, it is to focus on ourselves and ensure we get it right.
On his message to the Sundowns fans, he said: “To all the Mamelodi Sundowns supporters, please come to Cape Town in numbers to support us. Be behind the team, and we will ensure that we make you happy by getting the three points.”
