Algerian Ligue 1 side MC Alger has so far failed to register new players during the January transfer window. The Algerian league leaders are in limbo when it comes to strengthening their squad as the conclusion of the transfer window fast approaches.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) regulation on salary cap made it difficult for the Algeirs based club to recruit new players. The club targeted a few names during the window but failure to come to an agreement on player demands meant there are no new arrivals so far. According to Competition DZ, the Algerian transfer window will be closed on 5th of February. FAF asked FIFA to extend the window and the world football head is yet to communicate their response.

Majority shareholder of MC Alger, Sonatrach, continues to provide resistance to providing the funds for proposed acquisitions. MC Alger president Hadj Redjem has asked the top management of Sonatrach to find a solution. The state-owned oil company's commitment to the club has been recently questioned by MCA's passionate supporters.

MC Alger are competing in three fronts. They are still in CAF Champions League, where they qualified for the quarterfinals, and the Algerian Cup while leading in a tight race for Ligue 1 honors.
