Mamelodi Sundowns new coach Miguel De Azevedo Cardoso has promised the South African team’s fans more wins starting with this weekend’s CAF Champions League group stage game against Raja Casablanca FC.
The Portuguese mentor, who replaced Manqoba Mngithi earlier this week, addressed Sundowns fans via the team’s YouTube channel, saying their support would be handy.
“I want to ask them: please be with us, support us with that energy. We want that joy. We want to feel them as we try our best to answer the question they ask, that we win,” he said.
The former Esperance coach’s call comes as the Pretoria-based side welcomes Raja Casablanca FC on Sunday, December 15, 2024, while hunting for a first win in the Champions League group stages.
“They should be like the 12th player and not in the stands; we need to feel them; we need them to help us and we want to be with them because they are important,” Cardoso added.
The Betway Premiership champions replaced Mngithi after going two games winless, drawing 0-0 against Maniema Union and one-all with AS FAR in the Champions’ League group stages.
