Mamelodi Sundowns continue to strengthen their defence with Keanu Cupido being their latest acquisition from fellow Betway Premiership side Cape Town City.

Both clubs have confirmed the transfer of the 26-year-old who has swapped picturesque Cape Town for life in the adventure of Pretoria where Sundowns are based. Miguel Cardoso’s team did not disclose the centre-back’s contract duration but simply said it was a long-term deal.

City have since wished their former dedicated player well as he joins the dominant force of South African football.

“Keanu Cupido has completed a permanent move to Mamelodi Sundowns. After seven memorable seasons, everyone at the club wishes Keanu all the best in his next chapter,” City’s statement reads.

The South African international will fight for a regular playing slot in the heart of Sundowns defence alongside the likes of Grant Kekana and Mothobi Mvala, Malibongwe Khoza.

Cupido has the chance to feature for the defending champions when they welcome Golden Arrows on Sunday in a league match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
