South African broadcaster SuperSport will make a return to showcasing Ethiopian Premier League games starting from the coming Sunday 2nd of February.

SuperSport only broadcasted few league encounters this season as it plans to exit the league after the conclusion of its contract.

Close sources from SuperSport who wants to stay anonymous told Pan-Africa Football that the broadcaster decided to showcase two rounds of matches in Adama. "It is true that we will showcase week 18 and 19 games. We plan to showcase two more rounds in other cities too."

The source confirmed not all rounds will be covered live due to a high operational cost. Super Sport incurred a huge operational cost with rental of OB Van from local Ethiopian broadcaster OBN.

Ethiopian Premier League Share Company general manager Kifle Seife, as quoted by Soccer Ethiopia, claimed SuperSport wanted contract termination. "DSTV thought of terminating the contract owing to profitability issue. But we told them that we will take the case to court and then they resumed broadcasting games."

It is now very obvious for spectators that next season the Ethiopian premier league will not have SuperSport as the TV right holder. Super Sport bought the TV rights of the league for five seasons in a deal worth 68 million dollars.

SuperSport will showcase the two rounds on its Liyu Channel.
