“Suspension of league affected players” - Karela defender Maxwell Agyemang

Karela United’s quest to climb out of the relegation zone will receive a stern test when they take on Basake Holy Stars.


The Premier League strugglers host the newly promoted club on Sunday in a week 23 fixture - a game they must win to keep their survival dreams alive.


Defender, Maxwell Agyemang has indicated that the team is ready for the resumption of the league this weekend. According to the former Asante Kotoko defender, the suspension of the league had a negative impact on the players but he remains confident of their preparedness for the Week 23 encounter.


“The suspension of the league didn’t help us. We are happy the league is resuming this weekend. “We are prepared well against Basake Holy Stars. They are not a bad side. They can worry us but we are well-prepared for all the three points.


“All the players are doing their best. We are confident we will win our upcoming game. “We are appealing to our fans to come in their numbers to support the team,” Maxwell Agyemang said in an interview with the media team of Karela United.


Karela United sit 16th on the league table with 17 points from 19 matches and are faced with must win situations in their remaining games to stay afloat the drop zone. The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season is set to resume this weekend after a four-week suspension.
