Guinea national side head coach Michel Dussuyer stated his charges respect every opponent they face ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash on Friday. The Syli National will host lowly ranked Somalia in a Group G fixture. Many predict the West African nation to win the duel.
Dussuyer was more reserved while addressing the tie as he cautiously stated the game is not an easy one. “We would perhaps like to take matters into our own hands directly and qualify. The Guinean team will respect their opponents and give their all to snatch victory in order to continue dreaming of a first qualification for the FIFA World Cup.”
Dussuyer will be eyeing a win over Somalia to close the gap on Group G leaders Mozambique and Algeria. Guinea has six points as they occupy fourth place. In form striker Serhou Guirassy will be the main threat for the Ocean Boys to deal with when the two sides lock horns in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The French coach also explained why Mohamed Bayo, Saidou Sow and Ilaix Moriba were dropped for the March qualifying games. Dussuyer confirmed center back Sow encountered a family issue while Belgium based striker Bayo and former Barcelona midfielder Moriba asked not to be included in order for them to work on their fitness.
