Defending cup champions Young Africans showed no mercy against second tier side Copco FC, recording a dominant 5-0 victory on Saturday in the Round of 64.

Five different scorers contributed for Yanga who did the most damage in the second half. In the first half it was Shekhan Ibrahim who put the heavy favorites ahead in the 35th minute when a quickly taken corner kick caught the Copco defense off guard, allowing Ibrahim to get free for a powerful header.

Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube doubled the lead close to the hour mark and Congolese winger Maxi Nzengeli converted from the penalty spot in the 68th minute to put the result beyond doubt. Kenya national team midfielder Duke Abuya and Mudathir Yahya completed the scoring for Yanga.

It was a bit trickier for Azam FC who currently sit third in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League table. The Bakers had a difficult match against fellow top flight side JKT Tanzania but emerged victorious with a 3-2 result to join Yanga in advancing to the Round of 32.

A perfect header from former Stade Malien defender Yoro Diaby put Azam ahead just past the two minute mark. The towering center back then showed his technical ability with a well struck free kick to double the lead. JKT rallied to pull one back but Alassane Ndao restored the two-goal advantage and Azam held off a late charge to secure victory.

Simba SC will be in action on Sunday for their cup match as the Federation Cup approaches the conclusion of the Round of 64.
