Steven Mukwala has had an unforgettable week in Tanzanian football, one defined not just by personal Honors but also by club historic milestones with Simba SC.

The Uganda Cranes forward played a central role in helping Simba reach the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals for the first time in 51 years. In a high-stakes second-leg clash at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Simba faced a daunting task, overcoming a 2-0 first-leg deficit to Egyptian side Al Masry.

Mukwala doubled Simba’s lead to add onto Elie Mpanzu's earlier opener to draw the aggregate level. After 90 minutes with the teams locked, it was down to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.

Simba prevailed 4-1 and Mukwala calmly slotted his spot-kick to send the Tanzanian giants into a historic semifinal, their first since 1974 when they reached the final four of the African Cup of Champions Clubs, now the CAF Champions League. However, Mukwala's continental heroics weren’t his only highlight of the week.

On the domestic front, he was named the Tanzania Premier League Player of the Month for March, thanks to his lethal form in front of goal. In just two league appearances, the former URA FC striker was directly involved in five goals, scoring four and assisting one.

He hit a memorable hat-trick in a 3-0 away victory against Coastal Union and followed it up with a goal and an assist in a 6-0 thrashing of Dodoma Jiji at home.

Reflecting on the award, Mukwala was quick to turn the spotlight to those around him. “Glory back to God Almighty,” he posted. “Special thanks to my coaches, teammates, and the flamboyant Simba SC fans. This one is for you.”

He now has nine league goals this season, closing in on teammate and current top scorer Jean Charles Ahoua, who leads the charts with 12 goals.

With both domestic and continental stages lit up by his performances, Mukwala’s stock continues to rise and Simba SC fans have every reason to dream big.
