Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has entered the bad books of Arsenal supporters following the Gunners’ 2-2 draw against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The record English FA Cup holders looked set for a consecutive win when goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz put the Gunners in front to end the first half 2-0.

However, back from recess, Villa pulled a goal back through Belgium international, Youri Tielemans before Ollie Watkins latched on to a poor defending from Thomas Partey to volley past David Raya from close range, leaving the game at 2-2.

Midfielder Thomas Partey has charged Arsenal teammates to stay focused as they keep their hopes alive of winning the Premier League title.

Thomas Partey said: “You want to be at the top so you continue to look at people at the top but the main focus is always to believe in ourselves, try to do things better, focus and win our games," Partey said after the game.

“I think the mentality from our fans to the players, to the coach is very clear. We want to be the best, chase the best teams and want to be the best team. Our mentality is to do our best and become the best. I think there are a lot of teams chasing the title and we have to focus on ourselves and win our games,” he added.

The draw against Villa has left Arsenal six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who beat Brentford 2-0 earlier on Saturday and also have a game in hand.

Arsenal will turn attention to European competition hoping to return to winning ways when they host Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League before travelling to play Wolves.
