Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler has outlined his plans to help the South African club have an incredible season in the Betway Premiership this season.

Having lost his job at Cape Town City, the former Bafana Bafana player is now in charge of Sekhukhune after coming in to replace fired Lehlohonolo Seema. Since his arrival, he has overseen two matches – a 2-1 victory against Marumo Gallants and a 2-1 defeat against Stellenbosch.

“I think there’s a lot of talent and there's a lot of experience in this team, players who've played at the highest level at big clubs," said Tinkler as quoted by SABC Sports. “So, the talent is definitely not the issue, now it's just about building on what they've achieved.

“And then obviously adding certain elements that I think we need to bring into our game to make sure that we stay strong and build a credible season, not only this season but moving forward."

On losing to Stellenbosch, he said: “No, there's still quite a bit that I have to do in terms of the playing style that I want, it was a little bit better in terms of our possession and our build up but in the final third, I don't think there was enough creativity.

“I don't think there was enough penetration so those are certain areas that we need to work on. Then obviously the mistakes, the ability to keep the ball, making the right decisions.”

Sekhukhune are currently sitting fifth on the 16-team league table with 34 points from 22 matches. They have registered 10 wins, four draws and suffered eight defeats.
