Reigning Tunisia Ligue 1 champions Espérance Sportive de Tunis are now also the reigning Super Cup winners in the North African nation following Sunday's 2-0 victory over Stade Tunisien at the Stade Hammadi Agrebi in Tunis.

The Blood and Gold put in a strong effort for their sixth consecutive victory in all competitions after an even start to the match. Coupe de Tunisie champions Stade Tunisien were able to compete well in the first half hour but EST created the most dangerous opportunities. Youcef Belaïli appeared to put Espérance ahead in first half stoppage time but VAR correctly ruled the goal out for an offside offence.

The breakthrough finally arrived close to the hour mark for EST. A quick counter attack started by the throw of goalkeeper Amanallah Memmiche resulted in a pass from Belaïli that sent forward Achref Jabri in behind the ST defense. A square pass from the in form striker found Elias Mokwana and the South African was left with an easy finish from close range.

ST provided little resistance in the second half and it was Belaïli who put Espérance out of reach in the 84th minute. The Algerian superstar received the ball on the left wing and danced past a defender to cut inside and fire a low shot past ST goalkeeper Atef Dkhili, securing the trophy for the current Ligue 1 leaders.

Currently leading the Tunisian top flight by three points ahead of rivals Etoile du Sahel, a busy February continues for EST who face ES Zarzis on Wednesday before clashing at CA Bizertin on Saturday. Stade Tunisien are now on a five-match streak without victory and are six points back of EST in the league in sixth place. They return to league action with a duel against Etoile du Sahel on Wednesday.
