Tunisian league strugglers CS Sfaxien have named Lassad Dridi as their new head coach and sporting director. Sfaxien parted ways with Portuguese coach Alexander Santos last week citing poor performance in both Tunisian Ligue 1 and CAF Confederation Cup matches.

It is a disastrous season for the Sfax based club as they lost six consecutive games in all competitions. Together with Sanots the club’s sporting director Selim Ben Othman also resigned from his post in December 2024.

Sfaxien rushed to name the well-traveled Dridi as their new trainer and sporting director. The 47 years old coach last season worked in Libya Al Ahli Bengazhi. He previously coached Tunisian sides Stade Tunisien, CA Bizertin and US Monastir.

It will be his second home coming as he led Sfaxien between 2017 and 2018. Dirdi’s first game in charge of Sfaxien was against Algerian side CS Constantine in the Confederation Cup.

Sfaxien are ninth in Tunisian Ligue 1 with 17 points, 13 points adrift of leaders US Monastir. They are out of the Confederation Cup with zero points after four matchdays.
