Only four points separates 6th placed Étoile du Sahel from leaders Stade Tunisien after three matches took place Sunday in Tunisia's Ligue 1 Professionnelle. The nation's participants in CAF club competition were involved with the most notable result being a victory for reigning champions Espérance ST over title challengers US Monastir.

EST continue to show their potential in recent weeks and have fully recovered from a poor start to the season under Romanian coach Laurențiu Reghecampf. The tactician has brought discipline and high standards to the Blood and Gold who prevailed with a 2-0 victory away from home at Monastir.

Algerian superstar Youcef Belaïli is in fine form and the acquisition from MC Alger cut inside from the left wing to open the scoring with a trademark goal in the 69th minute, his 10th goal in all competitions. EST youth product and Tunisia national team right back Raed Bouchniba confirmed victory in the final moments with his 3rd goal of the season.

Poor results at home and in the CAF Confederation Cup have left CS Sfaxien with a new technical team but the results are not improving. CSS fell to Étoile du Sahel with a 1-0 result, dropping les Sfaxiens further into midtable obscurity. Oussema Abid scored his third goal in two matches to give ESS the victory.

Finally, Club African failed to take advantage of an opportunity to claim top spot after playing to a 0-0 draw with US Ben Guerdane. After a promising start to the season that saw them emerge as early contenders, CA remain in the chase but will need to be more clincial against lesser teams.
