Tunisian giants Espérance strolled to victory on Christmas Day with a 3-0 result over Tunisia Ligue 1 newcomers EGS Gafsa away from home.
Tunisia under-20 national team forward Zinedine Kada opened the scoring for EST close to the half hour mark. The visitors encountered an opponent with nothing to lose and poor pitch conditions but the Blood and Gold maintained control of the match once Kada completed an excellent team movement with a finish from Mohamed Ben Ali's cross.
Poor marking allowed EST to find the second goal around the hour mark when Larry Azouni's low service found the run of Elias Mokwana whose low finish put the visitors beyond reach. Gambian striker Kebba Sowe scored in stoppage time for the third goal, moving EST within range of league leaders US Monastir.
