Twelve players shortlisted for Ligue 1's Prix Marc-Vivien Foé

The twelve-man shortlist for the 2025 Prix Marc-Vivien Foé has been unveiled.
The award is presented annually to the best African player in France’s Ligue 1 by France 24 and RFI. It was named after the late Cameroonian midfielder Marc-Vivien Foé, who passed away after suffering cardiac arrest during a FIFA Confederation Cup match for Cameroon in Lyon in 2003.
The nominees for the 2025 Prix Marc-Vivien Foé Award include 12 players from six different African nations, showcasing a mix of positions across the field:
Achraf Hakimi (Morocco, 26 years old) – Right back, Paris Saint-Germain
Lamine Camara (Senegal, 21) – Midfielder, AS Monaco
Amine Gouiri (Algeria, 25) – Forward, Olympique de Marseille
Moses Simon (Nigeria, 29) – Forward, FC Nantes
Yahia Fofana (Ivory Coast, 24) – Goalkeeper, Angers
Moussa Niakhaté (Senegal, 29) – Defender, Olympique Lyonnais
Eliesse Ben Seghir (Morocco, 20) – Winger, AS Monaco
Evann Guessand (Ivory Coast, 23) – Striker, OGC Nice
Himad Abdelli (Algeria, 25) – Midfielder, Angers
Hamed Junior Traoré (Ivory Coast, 25) – Midfielder, AJ Auxerre
Habib Diarra (Senegal, 21) – Midfielder, Strasbourg
Abdoulaye Touré (Guinea, 31) – Midfielder, Le Havre AC
The winner of the 2025 Marc-Vivien Foé Award will be announced on May 12, 2025. Last year’s award was won by Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who plays now for Al Qadsiah FC in the Roshn Saudi Pro League.
