Angola will be without two influential players when they host Lesotho on Saturday in an African Nations Championship (CHAN) second- round, second-leg match.

The Angola News Agency confirmed that midfielder Eddie Afonso is suffering from Malaria whereas goalkeeper Neblu has lost a child during the weekend hence both will miss the match.

Despite the absence of the two players, coach Pedro Gonçalves told Jornal de Angola newspaper that he will not beef up the now 24-member squad. “It is clear that the Lesotho team will play hoping to change the situation. It will be a different match, but one for which we will respond better,” the coach said.

Goncalves might have to use Jorge Miguel Rui to replace Neblu between the sticks.

Angola have one foot into the 2025 CHAN finals after winning the first leg 2-0 over Lesotho at Moses Mabhida Stadium in South Africa on December 22, 2024 courtesy of goals from Megue and Kaporal.
