Angola under-17 national football team coach Domingos da Silva (Mito) has highlighted tactical aspects as his focus during preparation for Tuesday’s meeting with Mali.
The two teams open their Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations campaign for Group D at the Berrechid Municipal Stadium in Berrechid, Morocco.
Speaking to the Angola Football Federation media, Mito said he was now focusing on tactics based on video analysis of Mali.
“We went to a good field with good grass. We trained well and it also allowed us to adapt. We are working on the technical-tactical aspects, especially the offensive since we are also observing the videos of opponents and how they play,” he explained.
Players for Angola are also adapting well playing on natural grass, the coach added.
He said: "It has benefited the athletes and the technical team since in Angola, we only worked on synthetic grass. There is a positive adaptation, fighting spirit, and eagerness to start our journey towards our dream for Qatar (FIFA World Cup).”
Angola’s second game is against Côte d’Ivoire on 4 April and then the Central African Republic three days later.
The Angolans warmed up for the AFCON finals with a 3-0 win over the under-19 side back home. Finishing in third place at the 2019 AFCON edition was the best position for Mito’s boys.
