On the eve of a decisive quarterfinal against South Africa, the Moroccan U-17 national team is displaying measured confidence and clear determination. The stakes: a place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, hosted on Moroccan soil.

At a press conference Wednesday in Casablanca, national coach Nabil Baha and goalkeeper Soufiane El Idrissi outlined the squad's ambitions and mindset ahead of this knockout match, scheduled for Thursday at 8:00 p.m. at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia.

"The previous matches have given us confidence," said Baha, emphasizing that the preparations have taken place in good conditions. The former Moroccan international added that his staff has worked extensively on analyzing the South African game, focusing on its strengths... and weaknesses.

Aware of the difficulty of the event, Nabil Baha emphasized the importance of mental strength in this type of confrontation: "South Africa is a well-structured team, with talented players. But I have total confidence in my boys. They have talent, personality, and play in top-level clubs." He was careful to qualify, however: "Talent alone is not enough. It's the team that fights the hardest on the field that wins."

For his part, the Lionceaux's young goalkeeper, Soufiane El Idrissi, expressed his enthusiasm and motivation: "We are proud to be in the quarterfinals. The atmosphere is excellent in the squad, and we are all focused on the goal of qualifying for the semifinals." He added that all the players fully support the coach's tactical plan.

South African coach Vela Khumalo acknowledged the difficulty of the task: "Morocco is a great footballing nation. This match will be a real challenge. We must be effective offensively and play as a team to hope to win."

Khumalo also praised the tournament organization: "The infrastructure, stadiums, and training centers made available to us are of a very high standard. It's a real pleasure to participate in this AFCON."

The duel between Morocco and South Africa promises to be intense. In front of their home crowd, the Atlas Lions will try to assert their status and extend their great adventure in a competition they dream of winning at home.
