Ashraf Tapsoba made a name for himself on Monday at the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after striking twice in Burkina Faso's 2-1 Group B victory over Cameroon.

The 15-year-old thumped in Burkina Faso's opening goal before stunning onlookers with an audacious effort from 55 yards that left Cameroon goalkeeper Junior Lopez Abou helpless.

Tapsoba's fantastic strike came in the 41st minute but his first goal in the 19th minute came after some excellent work by Issouf Bara. Bara embarked on an excellent dribbling run into the Cameroonian penalty area before being halted by the defense. However, Bara recovered the ball and calmly laid a pass over to Tapsoba who blasted in.

Cameroon, who were the better team for some stretches of the match, attempted to fight back in the second half. After a sustained spell of dominance, David Bondoma's clever pass found David Nyangono who placed his shot past Prince Ouédraogo in the Burkinabé goal.

Cameroon continued to generate opportunities against a tired Burkinabé side but the Stallions held on for an important victory to begin their campaign in Morocco.
