Congolese striker Cédric Bakambu continues to inspire Spanish La Liga club Real Betis in their UEFA Europa Conference League campaign!
Bakambu scored in Betis' 2-0 first leg victory at home in their quarterfinal clash with Polish club Jagiellonia and the 34-year-old forward did it again in the second leg on Thursday. The veteran goal scorer received a pass from Aitor Ruibal and produced a classy finish in the 78th minute.
The goal destroyed any comeback hopes for the Polish hosts, who did find a goal a few minutes later but it was too little, too late as Betis advanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 aggregate victory.
Bakambu, who only has 3 goals and 2 assists in 24 appearances from La Liga and Copa del Rey action, is a different player in the Conference League this season. He is second on the scoring charts for the competition with 7 goals in 11 appearances, one goal behind Angola national team forward Afimico Pululu who plays for the Jagiellonia team eliminated on Thursday.
Betis and Bakambu will next face Italian Serie A club Fiorentina in the semifinals. The first leg will take place on May 1 in Spain before the second leg a week later in Italy.
