Crested Cranes striker Juliet Nalukenge has signed a one-year contract with Tanzanian Women's Premier League side Yanga Princess.

Nalukenge makes the move after a some spell without a club following her departure from Apollon Ladies of Cyprus at the end of the 2023-24 season. Her time in Cyprus was marked by success but marred by a knee injury that sidelined her for 11 months.

Reflecting on her return to action, Nalukenge said, “I have spent the past months thinking about this moment, the day I would return to the field of play. I’m very delighted to play again. It’s been a tough journey to recovery but God is great!”

Now fully fit, the prolific forward has arrived in Tanzania and is set to be officially unveiled by Yanga Princess. She is expected to make her debut on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, when Yanga hosts JKT at the KMC Stadium.

Renowned for her clinical finishing and goal-scoring prowess, Nalukenge is poised to be a key figure for Yanga Princess as they chase league glory. Her football journey is decorated with notable achievements.

She remains Uganda’s most successful female footballer, having won CECAFA and COSAFA titles with the U17 national team, the 2022 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship with the Crested Cranes and domestic league titles with Kawempe in Uganda and Apollon Ladies in Cyprus.

Individually, Nalukenge was crowned Ugandan Women’s Player of the Year in 2019 and made global headlines in 2021 when she was ranked ninth in the prestigious Goal NXGN Award for the best young female footballers in the world.

As she embarks on this new chapter with Yanga Princess, the football world will be watching to see if Nalukenge can replicate her past successes and re-establish herself as one of Africa’s most lethal strikers.
