Turkish Women’s second-tier side Kayserispor Women’s FC have secured the signing of Ugandan forward Laki Otandeka Kanyesigye from English lower-division club Doncaster Rovers Belles.
Otandeka completed her move to Kayserispor last week and wasted no time in making her debut, featuring in a 3-1 defeat to Sakaryaspor.
Despite a disappointing start to their promotion playoffs, Kayserispor remain determined to secure a spot in the topflight, with Otandeka expected to add valuable experience and attacking depth to their squad.
She brings a wealth of international experience, having played in the USA, England, Germany and Lithuania.
Besides Doncaster Rovers Belles, she previously turned out for New Jersey Copa (USA), SV67 Weinberg, and MSV Duisburg (Germany) before stints with Lithuanian top-tier sides Saned Joniskis and MFA Zalgiris.
Otandeka has also been a key figure for the Uganda women’s national team, the Crested Cranes, earning seven caps.
She notably scored twice during the 2016 CECAFA Women’s Championship in Njeru. Her most recent national team appearance came in the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.
She joins a growing list of Ugandan female footballers competing in Turkey, including Joan Nabirye (Trabzonspor) and Natasha Shirazi (Hitabspor Bornava).
