On their path to readiness, the Cubs have engaged in several friendly matches.

They secured a commanding 5-0 victory over Kakungulu High School, showcasing their growing form and tactical improvements in their first practice match.

Yesterday, they edged Amus College 2-0, with goals from Simon Wanyama and James Bogere. FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim attended the match, offering words of encouragement to the team afterward.

The Cubs’ provisional squad comprises 37 players from various schools, academies, and clubs across Uganda, along with one international player, Austin Amani from Harrogate Town Academy in England.

The qualifiers hosted in Uganda will bring together top teams from the CECAFA region, offering the Cubs a home advantage. The finalists at the tournament will qualify for the final tournament hosted by Ivory Coast.

The Uganda Cubs are placed in Group A alongside Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Burundi. Group (B) has defending champions Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Kenya. The tournament is scheduled to take place between 14th and 28th December 2024 at Hamz Nakivubo Stadium and St. Mary's Stadium, Kitende.
